AI Vedic Astrology – Class 3

1. Recap of Class 2

In our previous session, we covered:

  • Planetary Strength Evaluation through methods like Shadbala and natural significations.
  • Understanding Yoga formations, particularly through planetary conjunctions and house lord placements.
  • The difference and significance of Rashi (signs) vs Bhava (houses) in chart analysis.

2. Planetary Aspects (Drishti or Dhrik Balam)

In Vedic astrology, drishti refers to a planet's ability to "see" and influence other planets or houses. This concept differs from the Western notion of aspects.

Standard Aspect:

  • Every planet casts a full aspect on the 7th house from its position.

Special Aspects:

  • Mars: 4th, 7th, and 8th houses
  • Jupiter: 5th, 7th, and 9th houses
  • Saturn: 3rd, 7th, and 10th houses

These aspects contribute to a planet’s Dhrik Balam (aspectual strength), which significantly impacts the influence and effectiveness of the planet in a chart.

Example: Mars in Aries aspects Cancer (4th), Libra (7th), and Scorpio (8th).

3. Chandra Adhi Yogam

This is a powerful and auspicious Raj Yoga, formed when benefic planets (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter) are placed in the 6th, 7th, or 8th houses from the Moon.

Positive Outcomes:

  • Brings leadership, wealth, prestige, and emotional resilience.
  • Enhances mental stability and public respect.

Formation Conditions:

  • Only benefics should occupy the relevant houses from the Moon.
  • The Moon and the benefics must be free from malefic influence or affliction.

AI Use Case: Automate detection by checking for benefics around the Moon’s placement and filtering out any malefic associations.

4. Chart Review – Evaluating Planetary Strength

We'll now use AI-assisted techniques to assess planetary potency using classical and modern metrics.

Core Strength Indicators:

  • Shadbala: Sixfold strength (e.g., Sthana Bala, Drik Bala)
  • Avasthas: Planetary conditions (e.g., combustion, retrograde, exaltation)
  • Functional Roles: Based on house rulerships per Lagna (Ascendant)

AI Evaluation Framework:

For each planet, examine:

  • Placement in friendly, neutral, or enemy sign
  • Exalted or debilitated status
  • Aspectual strength using Dhrik Balam
  • Yogas it forms or supports

We'll apply this process to a sample chart to highlight strong, weak, functional, or afflicted planets.

Homework & Practice

  • Map your own or a sample horoscope to evaluate:
    • Each planet’s strength percentage
    • All planetary aspects and interactions
  • Check for the presence of Chandra Adhi Yogam
